Andrea Davila Rubio (b. 1995, Galicia, ES) works and lives in Basel (CH). Her practice explores the physical and psychological relationship between the body and the object as surfaces that affect and transform one another. Drawing from contemporary material culture and post-growth ideas, she investigates how everyday environments and materials embed systems of control and conditioned forms of behavior that are imposed onto the natural. Her installations unfold as scenarios in which objects appear partially stripped of function and the body is perceived indirectly, more as a suggested presence than as an explicit representation.
She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Fine Arts at FHNW (Basel, CH) and holds a PhD in Contemporary Art (University of Vigo, ES).
